It’s a bird – it’s a bomb?

Police are keeping a careful eye on the sky in the Faryab province of Afghanistan after, as NBC News reported, some ostensibly bad people attached an explosive device with a GPS to a bird and sent it walking down the road in this area which is a Taliban stronghold.

Fortunately, the bird they used apparently was a non-native bird – so for that reason (and the part where it had an antenna sticking out of it), the thing stuck out like a sore thumb on the side of the road.

So, the police who spotted it did what any of us would do (or not?) – and decided to shoot the bird.

The bird then exploded, albeit apparently at a safe distance from anyone, and debris was spread around – including some sort of GPS apparatus and a camera. In the bird.
